WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Recovering Service Members (RSM) who are either active duty or veteran status.
While most of our students come from the Wounded Warrior Regiment, we welcome any RSM who is struggling with any form of injury, illness, or wounds (physical or mental). If you are not sure of your eligibility, please contact us today, we are always looking to expand our reach and level of impact to the military and veteran community.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This camp is free for wounded, ill. and injured service members on active duty or recently transitioned from the active ranks.  We also extend an invitation to any of the staff who have worked with these warriors.  Based on grants provided, the majority of participants must be Marine recovering service members, but due to the integration and development of being part of a new brotherhood of umpires, all are invited, provided a majority of students are recovering service members.  Marines will learn more about baseball and the camp will be teaching participants the basics of umpiring and how to be part of the game of baseball at any level.  The skill set taught will enable the student to apply their knowledge at baseball games locally where they could earn extra cash during their off duty time.  A summer league in Colorado would also be available for students who wish to develop their skills with the instructor staff over the long term. Civilian attire for the class is appropriate - baseball umpire uniforms and equipment will be provided free of charge to ALL participants to allow students to start their career in baseball.  Air Transportation and lodging will be provided by the WWUA and the Semper Fi Fund for ALL participants.  At least one bag and a carry on to go to Denver - but each Marine will be coming back with a large bag (sea bag size) of baseball equipment.    Some meals (dinner x2) will be provided by the WWUA.  Transportation to and from the Airport at your departure location must be from the individual Marine.  Requirements for wheelchair lifts and ADA compliant vehicles will be provided if necessary.  Recovering Service Member veterans are invited as well but must coordinate directly with Greg Wilson at greg.wilson@woundedwarriorua.org or (760) 964-3912.

All interested AD students must be cleared to attend by your chain of command.
