Andy “Doc” Barker
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Andy enlisted in the Navy August 3rd, 1989. He completed Recruit Training in September of 1989 and graduated Hospital Corpsman “A” school in March of 1990.
As a Hospital Corpsman, he served with the Fleet Marine Force and participated in multiple deployments to include Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Philippines.
In September 2003, Andy was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and assumed the role as the sole medical provider aboard the USS MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL (SSN708) and the USS NEWPORT NEWS (SSN 750) fast attack submarines out of Norfolk, Virginia. During his tours, he participated in multiple missions in support of National Security and the Global War on Terror.
Andy graduated from Hampton University with a a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps.
After receiving his commission, he went on to serve in Pensacola, Florida, Yokosuka, Japan and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia where he served in the roles of Emergency Room Nurse and clinic manager.
Andy closed out his thirty plus year career at the Navy Talent and Acquisition Group in St. Louis, Missouri where he currently resides with his wife Connie and their two children. Andy has always been involved in sports to include baseball, wrestling and track and field during his high school tenure and is very passionate about Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Andy Attended Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy as a student in 2021 and umpires high school baseball in Missouri.
